Cosmetic Injectables: A Powerful Solution for Aging in NYC

Cosmetic injectables are a potent tool for treating age-related concerns like facial volume loss and wrinkling. Small needles allow for precise delivery of the desired medication to specific areas of the face. Cosmetic injectables require no downtime and are ideal for busy patients who don’t want to take time off from their professional or family responsibilities.

How do Botox Cosmetic and dermal fillers rejuvenate the face? Most of the injectables we use fall into two distinct classes, each working differently to target aging.

Neuromodulators

Neuromodulators work by interrupting the communication between nerves and facial muscles. We have two different neuromodulators available: Botox and Dysport. Both products work similarly, though each offers a few distinct advantages. Botox injections address cosmetic concerns such as frown lines, crow’s feet, facial wrinkles (caused by everyday facial expressions), forehead creases, and more.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers address areas that need more volume. We use fillers to smooth wrinkles, restore volume to the midface, and contour areas like the nose or lips. Our fillers include Revanesse®, Restylane®, Juvéderm®, RHA® Collection, and Sculptra®.

Patients who want to avoid or delay surgery may benefit from combining injectable treatments in a procedure that some people call a liquid facelift or lunchtime lift. While a liquid facelift isn’t a substitute for the permanent results a surgical facelift can provide, it can create noticeable results and dramatic rejuvenation.

What Is Revanesse®?

The Revanesse line of dermal fillers allows you to express your beauty in your way. Revanesse dermal fillers consist of hyaluronic acid using innovative production methods, optimal ingredients, and strenuous quality testing for remarkable patient results.

The unique Revanesse line sculpts and shapes your features to enhance your more youthful appearance by adding volume for smoother-looking skin. By allowing you to gradually age gracefully, Revanesse helps you accomplish your unique aesthetic goals with natural-looking results and minimal pain and swelling.

What to Expect From Your Botox or Filler Treatment in Long Island

We administer neuromodulators and fillers by injection. After you meet with your provider and agree on a treatment plan, we’ll cleanse your skin to remove makeup, oils, and pollutants before administering injections to specific areas of your face. The injection process usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Treatment is quick and well-tolerated by most patients.

Recovery After Cosmetic Injectables

One of the most significant benefits of cosmetic injectables is quick and easy recovery. Unlike surgical treatments that require downtime, you won’t need to take several days or weeks off to heal from Botox and fillers. Patients can immediately return to work and other activities with few restrictions.

We’ll provide detailed recovery instructions, but plan to pick up where you left off. We may recommend icing or massaging the treatment areas for the first couple of days. Common side effects include redness, tenderness, bruising, and swelling. These side effects are typically minor and resolve within a few days.

FAQ

Botox & Dermal Fillers in Long Island

The cost of treatment with Botox, Dysport, or dermal fillers varies depending on the product used and the amount of medication needed. During your consultation, we’ll create a customized treatment plan and outline your expected costs and payment options.

Most injectables last between four and six months. Some long-lasting dermal fillers like Sculptra may provide results for a year or more after treatment. Patients who want to enjoy longer-term rejuvenation can return to our office on occasion for touch-up treatments. With a few injections each year, patients can enjoy long-term results from dermal fillers.

Our injectable treatments are well-tolerated by most patients. We use a small needle and work quickly to minimize patient discomfort during treatment. If you wish, we can apply a topical anesthetic at your request. Some fillers contain lidocaine in their formulation to increase comfort during and after injection.

Botox and Dysport® are both neuromodulators made from the botulinum toxin. These two treatments work similarly, but with a few distinct differences. Dysport tends to have a larger spread, making this treatment ideal for larger areas of wrinkling (like the forehead). Botox treatments may be a better option for smaller areas. Botox injections are more concentrated than Dysport, requiring less product to achieve similar results. Dysport typically starts working a day or two sooner than Botox injections.

If you’re interested in refreshing your appearance with cosmetic injectables, you’re likely a good candidate for treatment. Fillers and neuromodulators are versatile and safe for most patients. We recommend that patients considering injectables do not smoke, have realistic expectations, and are in good overall health. These injectables can transform your face, but results are generally temporary and less dramatic than facial surgery.

There’s a direct correlation between an injector’s skill and the quality of your results. Dr. Vandegrift is a highly trained plastic surgeon with extensive experience using cosmetic injectables. She has built a reputation for creating superb results using these products. While many surgeons in the area have impressive technical skills, Dr. Vandegrift also provides a unique partnership approach to working with each patient. She will listen to your needs, ensure you feel heard and valued, and work with you to provide a superior experience throughout the treatment process.

There is no need to choose between Botox and dermal fillers. These two classes of cosmetic injectables pair beautifully. Dr. Vandegrift will help you determine which products are best for your aesthetic goals.

Dr. Vandegrift uses five different dermal fillers: Revanesse®, Restylane®, Juvéderm®, RHA®, and Sculptra®. Each provides unique benefits. We carry all five options for a full suite of products to create stunning results for each patient. Various filler formulations work better in different patients and facial areas.

Revanesse, Juvéderm, Restylane, and RHA are all hyaluronic acid fillers. HA fillers are the most popular type of dermal filler. They are soft gel fillers created with hyaluronic acid. HA fillers are versatile and well-tolerated by most patients. They create a natural-looking result that appears immediately after treatment and lasts for several months.

Sculptra is another filler we offer. Sculptra works differently than HA fillers. Rather than filling in areas that need more volume, Sculptra works with the body to encourage collagen growth and production. The new collagen remains in the skin long-term. Sculptra provides results for a year or more after treatment, much longer than most HA dermal fillers.
